Thinking of ordering the 125cc Lynx scooter from Direct Bikes, need something to commute to and from work on that is cheaper than running a car, trip is about 8 miles each way. Anyone had experience with this bike and would you reccomend it for this?
i am thinking about buying the 50cc sports scooter from direct bikes, does anyone else have it? does it run well? any problems? and how much is insurance for it? thanks
Hi Erica, My hubby got one from direct bikes last year to use for work whilst I was on mat leave and I needed the car! it has been great, no probs whatsoever, really cheap to run – costs £4 to fill the tank, £15 to tax for the year and looks great too – ours is a 50cc sports sccoter in black. really east to register too with dvla. don’t know if you are interested but we are now selling it as i am back at work and we both work at the same office so we are using the car together now – hubby is gutted! The insurance we pay is £19 a month. We are also including a black sporty helmet (worth £40) an outside all weather cover and a top box, screen and a dead lock too! Let me know if you are interested before I advertise it – we have all docs, booklets, paperwork and it is in excellent condition and has only done 500 miles!
We are asking for £400 for the whole lot – the bike cost us £600 delivered, the helmet and other accessories cost over £100 and we will tax it for a full year for you too if you are interested. Hope you get one either way – they are wicked!!!! Thanks, Julie
Hi,if anyone has bought a bike from direct bikes could you tell me just how flat pack it comes, how much is there to put together as I have no idea on mechanics whatsoever. How many pieces and what pieces need to be assembles, any help would be gratefully received.
thanks
Hey andrew,
the scooters from direct bikes don’t come flatpacked. They come on a pallet, pretty much fully assembled. It’s just accessories that you need to attach. hope this helps.
I think direct bikes are so cheap because they don’t have a show room or brochures or anything like that. They just sell straight to you. Cuts a lot of costs out, I s’pose.
I’ve got a direct bikes 50cc sports scooter, it’s a great little machine! I’ve had it for about a year.
They don’t come registered, but it’s not hard to do it. They send out some forms and stuff and you just fill in all yr details and then post it to the DVLA. Simples.
I got my scooter from direct bikes last week, it comes in a steel frame to prevent damge in delivery. all i had to do was fit the battery. it took around 5 minutes to sort out and then it takes a few hours to charge. im really happy with it, just need to register it. cheap insurance, cheap moped and good quality *****
